NYU’s newest residence hall, Founders Hall is a co-ed, traditional style dorm. Combining the beautiful historical facade of Old St. Ann’s Church with brand new ecologically sustainable infrastructure, Founders is a 26 floor building with a spacious outdoor courtyard; two TV lounges; one study lounge with computers; wi-fi access throughout the lobby and lounges; recycling/trash rooms on every floor; and a laundry room. Students will be roomed in groups of 2-4, and each room has its own bathroom. Students are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their own rooms, and they will also need to bring their own linens, including extra-long twin sheets, blankets, and towels. Linens can be purchased through the vendor College Ave. If you do purchase bedding online and have it shipped to Founders Hall, please be sure to have your package arrive no earlier than a few days before you move in.
Founders Hall is conveniently located within minutes of both Union Square and Washington Square Park. Students will be just a short walk away from both NYU’s main campus as well as the vibrant Union Square Park (home of one of NYC’s best Greenmarkets and a major subway hub). It will take students about 5-10 minutes to get to class. While there is no dining hall in Founders, the summer dining locations are a short 10-12 minute walk away.

Residential Hall Staff
The residence hall is led by a team of professional administrators who oversee building operations, supervise the P.A.s, help plan and execute the events and activities offered during the summer, and serve as an important resource for students whenever they have a question or need. The Residence Hall Director and Assistant Director oversee all operations and student life in the building, and the Resource Center Manager oversees the front desk and support services such as mail, move-in and move-out, and facilities needs.
In addition, each floor has its own Program Assistant (P.A.), a NYU college student who will be your main resource and guide during the program. Your P.A. will host events in the hall and run the events and activities exploring the city, too! Commuter students may not be living on campus but will still be an important part of the community! Commuter students may also reach out to the P.A.s should they have questions or needs.
P.A.s are on each floor, and all staff can be reached via the front desk of the residence hall.
All students living on campus must check-in to Founders Hall no later than 11:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 12:00 a.m. Friday-Saturday, students may leave the hall after 7:00 a.m. each day. All students must be in their rooms by 1:00 a.m. nightly. Students are required to submit their NYUCard to the residence hall front desk each night by curfew in order to be in compliance.
Overnight or Weekend Leave
Because we take student safety seriously and are very strict with curfew, it is important that we receive advance notice should a residential student plan to be away from campus on a particular night or during a weekend if they are enrolled in back-to-back programs. Parents are required to submit an Overnight Leave Form to the School of Professional Studies at least 48 hours in advance of a leave or by noon on Friday for a weekend leave. Living with someone else, getting to know your roommate, and learning how to respectfully share your space is one of the great benefits of choosing to live on campus. Because of limited space in the residential hall and the goal of the residential experience to allow students to broaden their experiences and meet new people, students are not allowed roommate requests.
SPSNYU High School Academy students living on campus will be automatically enrolled in the 10-meal/week meal plan. You may, if you wish, sign up for a larger meal plan. Dining halls will be available to students seven days a week. Commuter students may also sign-up for a meal plan! Information about how to sign-up for or change a meal plan is available online. Also don’t forget, your NYUCard will act as your dining card as well as your student ID.
The meal plans available are:
12 meals + $30 dining dollars = $182/week
10 meals and $30 Dining Dollars per week: $166/week
8 meals and $30 Dining Dollars per week: $145/week (commuter students only)
Please note that residential students must have a minimum of 10 meals/week for their meal plan. More information about summer dining is available online.
Move-In and Move-Out
Students living on campus may move in to the residence hall on Sunday beginning at 8:00 a.m. We ask all students to move in no later than 2:00 p.m. That will give you enough time to settle into your room before the start of the mandatory program orientation. Students cannot move into the residence hall before Sunday. If you arrive in New York City before that day, you should find your own accommodation in the city.
The last day of classes is Friday. Students must move out after class that day by 8:00 p.m. Students are not allowed to extend their stay unless they are enrolled in a SPSNYU High School Academy program beginning the following week.
